For our summer display, I'm delighted to host guest curator Rosie Reed and The Amber Room for an immersive exhibition featuring a series of supper clubs. Everything from the furry napkin holders to cloud-like crockery, sumptuous wall paintings and grotesque sculptures have been made especially for this July series. Rosie has christened this dinner party-cum-happening, Sticking up for Soft. But what is worth sticking up for, you might ask? In an uncertain world, we might prefer at least our eating utensils and accoutrements to be hard and firm but Rosie has set out a compelling case for softness as a virtue – and as a guiding principle for the making of contemporary art.
This group exhibition includes 18 artists: Nancy Allen, Leo Costelloe, Emma Mackintosh, Anna Perach, Freddie Robins, Alexandra Searle, Sam Bakewell, Lucy Ellerton, Richard Malone, Stephen Polatch, Ro Robertson, Christopher Taylor, Rob Branigan, Lydia Gifford, Jaclyn Pappalardo, Sue Ray, Rosie Reed, Isabelle Young.
